Oh, Mother: 6-Week Group Therapy for Daughters with Complicated Relationships with Their Mothers

Understand why it’s been so difficult to have a healthy relationship with your mom, process past hurts and pave the way for an authentic relating

Oh, Mother

On the surface, you may have a tense or even somewhat happy relationship with your mom. You may have been told mothers and daughters are supposed to be best friends or have this easy, caring relationship, but you can’t figure out how to have a relationship with her that feels authentic and real.

Perhaps you feel she’s jealous, dismissive, demanding, or doesn’t give you the time of day. Maybe you’ve been in a caretaking role, where you feel more like the mom than she is, and want to take up more space in your relationship, to be recognized for the person you are today.

The truth is, most of us struggle to have the relationship we want with our mothers, and building a mutually supportive relationship with our mothers takes work.

There’s often a whole host of past hurt that needs tending, and patriarchy that needs addressing.

Oh, Mother is a 6-week group therapy journey for women wanting space to explore, process and understand the relationships with their mothers. Together, we’ll put into motion the steps necessary to show up more authentically and build the relationship you desire, while uncovering themes in your families maternal line and our culture at large.

Am I turning into my mother?

Why is it that we fear turning into our mothers? While the answer to this question is complex, it’s often the greatest hinderance to fostering the relationship we seek; it keeps us at odds with each other, unable to understand the person before us.

Throughout the course of 6-weeks, we’ll process past hurts, missed moments, the influence of our broader culture and patriarchy’s role in forming The Mother Wound (the cultural trauma of being a mother, passed down through generations). And you’ll leave the group with a greater sense of connection, clarity, and a unique blueprint to greater relationship health.
